CFR online ticket reservation in two years

19.04.2004, 00:00 7

We will soon be able to book train tickets online, without having to call the information service of CFR (national railway operator) or fearing that the seats booked through CFR's travel agency have been allotted to other people, too. If everything goes as planned, the completion of CFR Calatori's computerisation project on which Hewlett-Packard Romania is now working will allow us by 2006 to buy tickets while on the train, from mobile terminals or book roundtrips online. Just like when travelling by plane. "So, if we go on a holiday at the seaside, we will no longer have to waste half a day that could have been spent basking in the sun standing in line at the CFR agency to buy tickets for the return trip," Radu Enache, HP Romania's general manager said.  The company signed a deal with CFR Calatori at the end of March in order to expand the latter's IT systems network. The officials say the project is scheduled for completion in two years and costs 22m euros. ZF
